Inspiration in a New York Minute

Well hello! Long time, no blog. It feels good to be back.

A few things have happened since the last post. I continued my education by taking a styling course. Little did I know how dedicated I would have to be! Itʼs been a minute since I last “attended school”, but it was well worth it. Iʼve also been styling away in closets, on sets, etc. (Excuses, excuses! I know.) Consider us like long-time friends that have just been reunited…we know how to pick up right where we left off.

I have a few posts coming up that I'm extremely excited to share with you. Keyword: transition. There's one post in particular I think you'll want to read: a lesson on how to audit your closet - how to decide what stays and what goes. There's no better time to do this than when the seasons change. But that's to come. First things first...

My return blog comes after a weekend of pure inspiration. Every year, my hometown girlfriends and I take a trip. We started as elementary friends on the soccer field, but as the gates of high school opened (quite a few years ago), we all decided to spread our wings in different cities. Our annual trip is a way for our carefree hearts to be reunited as if no time has passed.

This year we chose NYC...again. We can't stay away from this city. Here are a few snippets of our trip. Enjoy.

Our host's sweet welcome presents containing postcards, magnets, I heart NY tees and mugs and a monster cookie from Levains from the Upper West Side. Sorry, monster cookie ingested within 5 minutes...no time to whip out the camera.

Just a unicorn playing the same three songs on the accordion in Central Park. PS. unicorn head can be found at Urban Outfitters. Not kidding.

I know most bloggers post pastel macaroons or ice cream (which I love) from the city, but this girl loves some Shake Shack in Central Park.  Always the first item on the to-do list.

Of course, my inner hipster had to spend a day in Brooklyn. We started with Rose Water, a Seasonal American brunch joint with organic, local foods. One word...frittata. To die for. Perfectly paired with the apple ginger agua fresca. Heaven.

Feeling a little bit of Nashvegas at Enz's in Brooklyn. Super cute 50's boutique on 5th Ave.

Guvnor's Vintage, first of all, has the most adorable staff dressed in 50's garb. The Guv, as they say, has everything from vintage bathing suits, leather jackets and high wasted pants to shift dresses, accessories, aztec blankets, etc.

The Guv is actually closing its doors due to the change in Park Slope's market, but good news...everything is on massive sale and it has an Etsy store so everyone can sift through these fabulous finds.

First time to try soft boiled eggs and soldiers. Or as my Aussie boyfriend would call this dish "Dip dip googie egg". The latter actually makes more sense.

Loved the interior space and branding of Aesop in Soho. Great stop after brunch. It's a must for every home...straight from Australia itself.
