Hello! I’m Jenna. Nice to meet you. After much prodding from friends to start a blog about fashion, life and identity, here it is!
The more I think about it, this really does seem like a good fit for me. Ever since I was a little midwest girl, I’ve had a love for fashion and creative ideas. My mother spent her days as a part time model and a full time clothing addict. Wonder where I got that from?? So, I spent countless childhood hours sitting on set at mom’s shoots, and admiring her outfits at fashion shows. Oh, those lovely 80’s clothes. My Sunday mornings were spent on the pew, designing dream outfits on the back of the bulletins that the sweet, older church ladies so graciously provided as a sketch pad. I should have thanked them for their contributions.
When it comes to fashion, one thing I’ve learned is that everyone has their own style and that’s what should be displayed. As Coco Chanel said, “Fashion fades, only style remains”. So, while I love certain trends, they tend to lose their luster...hence, why they are called a trend. What I really care about is someone representing who THEY are - and I like to help them find a look that embodies their own, personal style.
One of the main ways that I help people do this (in addition to this blog) is my wardrobe styling business, REFASHION. The main goal of my company is to refashion (to make new) ones wardrobe by connecting who they are on the inside with what they look like on the outside. Whether we realize it or not, those two factors are closely related. Many people say things like, “I just don’t have any style” or, “I don’t know anything about fashion”...but I beg to differ. The problem isn’t that they don’t have any style - the problem is that they may not know who they truly are, or they don’t know how to represent who they really are.
And that’s where I come in...And what I want to do with this blog is not only talk about fashion and beauty (which there will be a lot of) but I also want to get genuine conversation about identity, purpose, and the journey of life going. I’m in the arena with you, trying to figure this whole thing out as well. And, as you’ll see, I have no problem showing the good, the bad, and the ugly...so get ready for some real talk. Yippee!
So here we go. Thanks for joining me on this journey. Let’s get this thing going!
